Chrome extension

A Chrome extension for job applications: clip the posting, match your resume, track it — without leaving the page

The AI ResumeGuru Chrome extension puts your whole application loop in the browser's side panel. One click saves a posting — title, company, and full description — to your job tracker, shows exactly which of its keywords your resume is missing, and jumps straight into tailoring. It works on the big boards out of the box and on any other site you choose to enable.

  • One-click save from LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever — and any board you enable
  • See your keyword gap for the job right in the side panel, free
  • Autofill application basics from your profile — it never submits anything

TL;DR

AI ResumeGuru's Chrome extension for job applications clips a posting from any job board into your job application tracker in one click and checks your resume against it where you found it. The side panel shows which of the posting's keywords you cover and which you're missing for free, reveals a numeric match score, and deep-links into tailoring and interview practice. It reads only the sites you explicitly enable.

Three beats: the posting you're reading, the clipper capturing it, and the tracked job that comes out.

How to install it

The extension is free on the Chrome Web Store: add it, sign in, and pin the icon. Rather stay in the app? The job tracker does the same work — paste a posting, and the job carries its description, its tailored resume, and its match score.

How does the job-saver extension work?

Install once, sign in, and every job posting you read becomes a one-click save with a resume match — the panel travels with you across boards.

  1. Step 01

Install the extension and sign in

Add AI ResumeGuru to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store and sign in to your account — the extension connects to the same tracker, resumes, and career profile you use in the app, so nothing needs setting up twice. Pin the icon and the side panel is one click away on any tab.

  2. Step 02

Open a job posting and save it

On LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, or Lever the panel reads the posting automatically — title, company, location, salary when listed, and the full description. On any other board, enable saving for that site once and it works there from then on. One click files the job in your tracker with its description attached.

  3. Step 03Pro

Check your match before you apply

Pick a resume and the panel shows your keyword gap for this exact posting — which terms you cover and which are missing — for free, right next to the job. Reveal the numeric match score when you want the single number; your free plan includes monthly score reveals, and Pro removes the cap.

  4. Step 04

    Tailor, autofill, and apply

From the same panel, jump straight into tailoring your resume for this job, practice a mock interview against its description, or autofill the application form's basics — name, contact details, links — from your career profile. The autofill sets fields only: it never clicks submit, and you always review before sending.

Why it works

Works on any job board — with your permission

The big boards work out of the box. Every other site is opt-in: the extension can't read a page until you enable that site, you can see exactly what's enabled, and you can turn any site off again. No blanket access unless you explicitly choose it.

The match check lives where the job does

No copy-pasting descriptions into another tab. The keyword gap — which of the posting's terms your resume covers and which it's missing — renders in the side panel next to the posting itself, computed from real coverage, and re-checking the same posting is always free.

Autofill that respects the form

The application autofill fills a small, fixed set of identity and contact fields from your profile — nothing else. It never answers demographic or visa questions, never touches essays, never overwrites what you typed, and never submits. You stay the one who clicks apply.

A capture door into the whole loop

Saving is the start, not the end: every job the extension clips lands on your tracker board carrying its description, ready for tailoring, a match score, gap-focused interview prep, and a cover letter — the same loop the app runs, now one click from the posting.

What does a Chrome extension for job applications actually do?

It removes the copy-paste step between reading a posting and acting on it. This one is a job application tracker Chrome extension: from the side panel on a live posting it clips the role — title, company, location, and the full description — onto your tracker board in one click, then compares your resume against that description right there, showing which of its keywords you cover and which you're missing. From the same panel you can tailor the resume for that job, practise a gap-focused mock interview against it, or autofill an application form's basics from your profile. The demo above replays exactly that sequence. The extension is free on the Chrome Web Store, and it isn't the only way in: on any browser, paste a posting into the tracker in the app and the job carries its description, tailored resume, and match score the same way — your first 8 jobs are free either way.

Which job boards does the extension work on?

LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, and Lever work the moment you install — postings on those boards are read with dedicated extractors, including structured details like location and salary when the posting lists them. Every other job board works through a one-time, per-site opt-in: the first time you're on a posting the extension can't read, it asks, and once you enable the site it saves there automatically from then on. For unusual pages that resist normal extraction, an explicit AI read can rescue the posting text.

Is it safe to let an extension read job pages and autofill applications?

This one is built to be auditable about it. It holds no blanket browsing permission: outside the bundled boards it cannot see a page until you enable that site, and every grant is listed and revocable. The autofill works from a strict allowlist — name, email, phone, location, links — layered over a hard blocklist that refuses demographic, visa, salary, and essay fields no matter what a form calls them. It sets values only: no clicks, no submissions, nothing sent until you send it.

How is this different from the Teal or Simplify extensions?

Those are strong capture tools, and Simplify's autofill covers more form types than ours does. The differences are direction and access: most job-saver extensions ask for access to every site at install, while this one reads only sites you enable. And where most extensions end at the saved row, this one connects the save to the rest of the loop — the keyword gap and match score render beside the posting, and tailoring, interview practice, and a cover letter are one click from the same panel, because it's the same product your resumes already live in.

A generous free tier includes saving your first 8 jobs with free keyword-gap checks and a monthly allowance of match-score reveals; Pro removes the caps on saved jobs and scores.

Frequently asked questions

Which sites does the extension work on?

LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, and Lever work out of the box. Any other job board works after a one-time opt-in for that site — the extension asks before it can read anything there, and you can revoke a site whenever you like. There's also a one-prompt option to enable it everywhere if you'd rather not approve boards one by one.

What data can the extension see?

Only the pages on sites you've enabled, and only to read the job posting on them. It holds no general browsing permission: on a site you haven't enabled it cannot read the page at all — the panel will tell you so and ask. Grants are per-site, visible, and revocable.

Does the autofill submit my application?

Never. It fills a fixed set of basics — name, email, phone, location, LinkedIn and website links — from your career profile, and stops. It refuses demographic, visa, salary, and essay-style fields by design, never overwrites something you typed, and never clicks a button. Reviewing and submitting stays entirely yours.

How does the match check work?

The extension extracts the posting's keywords once, then compares them against your chosen resume in your browser. The gap — covered terms versus missing terms — is always free and re-checking the same posting never costs anything. The single numeric score is metered: your free plan includes a monthly allowance of reveals, and a revealed job stays revealed.

Is the extension free?

The extension itself is free, and a generous free tier covers the loop: your first 8 saved jobs, unlimited keyword-gap checks, and a monthly allowance of match-score reveals. Pro removes the job cap and the score meter.

Do I need an AI ResumeGuru account?

Yes — saving needs somewhere to save to. The extension signs into the same account as the app, so your tracker, resumes, and career profile are shared. Creating an account is free.

Can it import my LinkedIn profile?

Yes. On your own LinkedIn profile page, the panel offers a one-click import into your master career profile — plus a profile check that scores your LinkedIn against a rubric of concrete fixes. Both run read-only; nothing is posted or changed on LinkedIn.

Where do saved jobs go?

Straight onto your job tracker board in AI ResumeGuru, carrying the posting's title, company, description, and structured details like location and salary when listed. From the board — or from the panel itself — you can tailor a resume to the job, practice an interview against it, or draft a cover letter.

Does it work in other browsers?

The extension is built for Google Chrome. Other browsers aren't supported yet.
